SPECIAL EVENTS in COTUIT: 2008

A village-wide maritime festival involving the Cahoon Museum of American Art, Cotuit Center for the Arts, Cotuit Library, and Historical Society of Santuit and Cotuit involving art, theatre, readings and historical exhibitions. Trolley service will connect all institutions. The Cahoon Museum will feature an exhibition of maritime paintings. There will also be a free public maritime-related concert at the museum by "The Cape Cod Conservatory Jazz Ensemble" on Saturday, May 24 and a walking tour of the Cahoon Museum's maritime collection by museum director Dr. Robert Gambone.
Annual Strawberry Festival 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 1148 Main St. Cotuit. Delicious homemade strawberry shortcake, children’s events, antique fire engine displays and more. Cost is $5 adults and $2 for children under 12.


Hometown fun and celebration as the whole village turns out to show its patriotic colors. Kids on bikes, floats from our local companies and others and the of course, the Cotuit Kettleers! Fun for the whole family!
During the morning and afternoon approximately 80 artists will fan out around Cotuit to paint. Many of them will have access to private yards with spectacular gardens or outstanding views of the water. The live auction begins at 2:00 p.m. The festive atmosphere on Cotuit's village green will include music, food and a silent art auction too. Bring your folding chairs and plan to spend a delightful summer afternoon at this wonderful fundraiser for the Cahoon Museum. (Auctions and festivities will be held on the village green, Main Street,
1148 Main St., begins at 6 p.m. Cost is $50. This is a fund-raising event to benefit the refurbishment of the Cotuit Historical Society Museum. Enjoy a selection of wines from around the world along with hors d’oeuvres supplied by local food merchants including Cotuit Oyster Co., Kettle Ho, The Josiah Sampson House Inn, La Mer Concierge and others.

The Cahoon Museum of American Art and the Osterville Garden Club's first "Cahoon in Bloom" will feature flower arrangements by six award-winning gardeners during the museum's exhibition "At Home in America: 19th Century Genre Painting." Each arrangement will be done by a different gardener and each arrangement will be coordinated to a specifc genre painting. General admission to the Museum for this event will be $10.00 - $8.00 for museum members. Special flower related merchandise will be featured in the Mermaid's Cove gift shop for this event.
