Hannah's Room Hannah's Room is located on the second floor, and has a newly-renovated private bath. This room was originally constructed by Josiah Sampson as a ballroom, and has a unique suspended floor to support vigorous dancing. However, his country neighbors, who already believed the house to be extravagant, mocked him for having a ballroom, particularly on the second floor, and he later converted it for use as an office.
The room overlooks the front lawn, with an excellent view of the property. Morning sunlight streams through the windows, and the room is bright and airy. Being on a corner, the room offers cooling salt-touched breezes throughout the warmer months. The antique queen-sized canopy bed, furnishings, and Oriental carpets give the room the feel of a gracious summer retreat. The room is named for Hannah Sampson, Josiah's wife.
