The room overlooks the front lawn, with an excellent view of the property. Morning sunlight streams through the windows, and the room is bright and airy. Being on a corner, the room offers cooling salt-touched breezes throughout the warmer months. The antique queen-sized canopy bed, furnishings, and Oriental carpets give the room the feel of a gracious summer retreat. The room is named for Hannah Sampson, Josiah's wife.

Hannah's Room is located on the second floor, and has a newly-renovated private bath. This room was originally constructed by Josiah Sampson as a ballroom, and has a unique suspended floor to support vigorous dancing. However, his country neighbors, who already believed the house to be extravagant, mocked him for having a ballroom, particularly on the second floor, and he later converted it for use as an office. |
